Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks to Russian president Vladimir Putin on phone.
The two leaders reviewed the situation in Ukraine, especially in the city of Kharkiv where many Indian students are stuck. They discussed the safe evacuation of the Indian nationals from the conflict areas.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine entered seventh day and over 300 civilians, including at least 14 children, have been killed so far, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday.
However, Russia, which is facing harsh sanctions and global condemnation for its actions, has said it will pursue the Ukraine offensive until 'all goals' are achieved, the defence minister was quoted by AFP.
On Tuesday, PM Modi held a phone call with European Council President H.E. Charles Michel. During the call, the Prime Minister expressed his anguish over the deteriorating situation and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. He reiterated India’s appeal for cessation of hostilities and a return to dialogue, the ministry of external said in a statement
